For anyone suffering a thigh bone fracture due to Fosamax use, a may be an option. A Fosamax femur fracture lawsuit could probably grant individuals the opportunity to seek compensation for medical bills, lost wages and quality of life, and other damages that come with their thigh bone fracture.

Individuals who raise claims that they have developed Fosamax femur fractures in taking the drug may find themselves having a legal alternative. This is because long-term use of the drug and other bisphosphonates used for osteoporosis treatment has been found to have a link to a risk of atypical fractures of the thighbone, one of the human body's strongest bones. Patients who have reported suffering thigh fractures while taking the drug Fosamax claim that they were engaging in non-strenuous activities - as simple as walking and standing alone - when their femur gave way.

Despite its use in preventing fractures in individuals with osteoporosis, Fosamax has been found, by long-term use of the medication, to have adverse effects on the femur bones. That's because the drug was alleged to harden the external layer of bone cells, thus inhibiting them from being replenished through normal bone development. As such, tiny fractures may develop despite the absence of any real trauma.

Patients who have suffered a femur fracture injury while under this drug may be entitled to a Fosamax lawsuit. Consider that, in October 2010, the FDA updated the Fosamax warning label to emphasize the risk of atypical thigh fractures in patients taking bisphosphonates for osteoporosis. Even though the government regulatory agency has yet to establish a definitive link between bisphosphonates and femur fractures, there are reports of unusual bone fractures occurring predominately in individuals taking Fosamax. In a report issued by the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research, there are more than 300 osteoporosis patients who developed a rare femur fracture.Furthermore, 94% of these individuals have been taking Fosamax or other bisphosphonate drug.

It is, thus, advisable that anyone suspecting having a femur fracture that is being caused by Fosamax must see a doctor for accurate diagnosis - a necessary step in determining eligibility for a Fosamax femur fracture lawsuit.
